The Week of February 21st

Grade 2 L/A

Vocabulary words: understand, gathered, impatient, impossible, believe, problem, demand, furious
Spelling words:hens, eggs, ducks, bikes, boxes,wishes, dresses, names, preheat, misheard
High Frequency words: another, far, grow, hard, heard, kind, light, more, some,to

Students will practice to  write words with endings -e and -es. Review forming regular and irregular plural nouns.We will revisit  the Humorous fiction Click ,Clack, Moo: Cows That Type and answer the questions on the student practice page.We will practice writing a persuasive letter.Students will learn to determine the meaning of a new word with prefix pre- and mis-.Students will read the leveled reader Zoo party and draw conclusions about what happens  in the story

Math:
This week we will continue to practice  to tell and write time to the minutes  Students will use the position of the hour and minute hand to tell time on an analog clock.Students will describe time using A.M.which means before noon  and P.M. means after noon. Learn that these are two of each time in a single day. Discuss activities that happens in the A.M. and P.M.

Students will learn that s can stand for the sound /s/ or /z/ at the end of a word.We will learn that ending -es is added to base words that end with letters s, ss, x, z, sh, ch, and tch. We will read the Humorous fiction Click ,Clack, Moo: Cows That Type and discuss the essential questions on each page.

Math:
This week we will continue to practice  to tell and write time to the hour and half hour.  Students will use the position of the hour and minute hand to tell time on an analog clock. We will also practice to tell time by five minutes . Practice with model clocks.

The Week of February 6th

Students will practice to form and use contractions.. We will  discuss the facts and opinions about Jelly fish from the lesson Jellies. Students will read the leveled reader Coral Reefs and discuss the main idea and words with -er endings. Students will learn  about past, present and future  tense verbs.  We will review  kinds of nouns.

Math:
This week we will learn to tell and write time to the hour and half hour.  Students will use the position of the hour and minute hand to tell time on an analog clock. children learn that the minute hand moves from one number to the next number as 5 minute pass. Practice with model clocks.
